Mystery Nissan Concept Teased, Looks Like Baby GT-R

The revival of the Japanese sportscar is on the way as we speak. Mazda signed a deal with Alfa Romeo and they will likely be putting a Wankel in the MX-5. Meanwhile, Toyota is working on two cars, one that will be cheaper than the GT 86, and another which will likely be a hybrid AWD to revive the Supra name.

So what is Nissan, the maker of the pride of Japan (the GT-R) doing? Well, the successor of the R35 is probably delayed, but we’re expecting something special for the 50th Anniversary of the Fairlady Z.

Could this be it? We don’t know, but Nissan is teasing this concept car ahead of its debut at the Sao Paulo International Motor Show that takes place in Brazil from October 24 to November 4.

All we know is it was designed in Brazil and will “will introduce a unique new genre to the automotive world". Some elements on the car, like the small upper grille the side vents behind the front wheels and he headlights are very similar to those on a GT-R.

Given this description, it’s likely not the successor to the original 200Z, though we could be looking at something for the Datsun brand.

"The showcar will dazzle on two counts," said Shiro Nakamura, Senior Vice President and Chief Creative Officer of Nissan. “It is a genuinely new and exciting concept, and it will explode with energetic design and impressive color that fully express our impression toward the country."
