Autoevolution: 2014 Honda Civic Estate/Wagon Rendering

The ninth generation Honda Civic was launched in Europe in 2012, after it was revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2011.

The model sports an even stronger design identity than the model that came before it, one that's practically its own, since no other Honda model looks as bold. The basic proportion of the car was retained from the previous model, but the aerodynamics have been much improved, thanks to a boy shape that has more in common with a Prius than a regular VW Golf.

Because it has kept torsion beam rear suspension system and the central fuel tank, the Civic hatchback has a massive boot capacity of 470 liters. And thanks to a the new 1.6-liter i-DTEC diesel engine, you can cary stuff and be efficient about it as well.

470 liters should be enough for any C-segment hatchback buyer, but not for Honda. They want to give the five-door Civic an even bigger boot by making it into an estate. A concept car is to be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in about two weeks, but we went ahead ands revealed it for you ahead of time. This is our latest rendering, created using Honda's own teasers that gave us a clear idea as to what the profile will look like.

The Civic Estate should enter production at the same Swindon plant in the UK by this time next year. Suddenly, the 2.2-liter diesel engine starts to make a lot more sense for this car.
