Honda's much-awaited Mobilio MPV launch is just around the corner. It is now official that Honda will introduce Mobilio in India in a few months.
Mobilio, which made its debut at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014, has now been previewed on the company's India website,
with the 'launching in a few months' tag. Built on Honda's popular Brio
hatchback platform, the Mobilio is speculated to go into production in
June 2014 at the company's Greater Noida plant and is expected to hit
the domestic market between July and September. The car will be pitted
against Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy and Nissan Evalia in the
domestic market and is expected to fall in the price brackets of ₹6 lakh
to ₹8.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
The MPV will be offered in both petrol and diesel engines in
the country. The petrol model of the car will pack 1.5-litre i-VTEC
petrol motor, which can churn out a power of 117bhp, and the diesel
variant will come with 98bhp, 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel unit, which powers
Honda's popular City and Amaze. The engine will come mated to a 5-speed
manual and CVT gearbox. While the diesel model of MPV Mobilio is
expected to deliver 26 kmpl, the petrol version of the car is likely to
give 18 kmpl.
Auto lovers in India are also waiting for the launch of 2014 Honda
Jazz. Although there has been no word on the Jazz launch as of now,
previous reports suggested that it will undergo production in July this
year at the company's new Tapukara plant in Rajasthan. Under the hood,
the petrol version of the Jazz is speculated to pack the same 1.2-litre
i-VTEC petrol engine that powers Amaze and Brio, which can generate a
power of 87bhp, with a torque of 110Nm at 4800rpm. The diesel Jazz is
likely to pack a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel motor, which can pump 100PS of
power and 200Nm torque.
In March, Honda India posted the highest ever monthly sales, recording
83.4 per cent increase in its domestic sales at 18,426 units. Honda sold
18,426 units in March, as against the 10,044 units in the corresponding
month last year. In March, Honda sold 1,456 units of its small car
Brio, while its Amaze and City offerings stood at 7,374 and 9,518
respectively.
