Honda has just released this teaser sketch for a concept called
the "Spiria". It's currently making its way to the 2014 Beijing Auto
Show for its its big debut.
We really have no way of knowing what the concept actually previews, but
there's a little clue in its name. "Spiria" hints at Spirion, which is
the Chinese market name for the Accord, not the American version of the
car, but the European one that used to be badged as the Acura TSX.
Going by the sketch alone, we could either be looking at a new type of
5-door coupe or a crossover-like Honda CrossTour package differently for
the Chinese market.
Another important debut for Honda in Beijing is the third generation
Fit. A locally assembled version of the car that's already available in
Japan and America will be offered to Chinese customers. Assembled by the
Guangzhou-Honda joint venture, the new Fit will come with two engine
choices, a 1.3-liter and a 1.5-liter, available with a 5-speed manual or
an automatic.
The Acura brand is also making its full-scale debut. Honda hopes
production versions of the MDX, RDS, ILX and the NSX Concept will drum
up support for its luxury brand in an ever-growing Chinese car market.
