Toyota Prius |
An interesting possibility has surfaced, as the Insight could be brought back to life as Honda wants to develop a fleet of EVs in the coming years.
As per the CEO of Honda, Takahiro Hachigo, the company has set 2030 as a quasi-deadline to have two thirds of its roster comprising of EVs. For that endeavor hydrogen fuel cell (FCEV) vehicles are being pushed back with plug-in hybrids and hybrids being the primary focus for the near future.
Besides offering the 2017 Honda Clarity FCEV in both hybrid forms, Honda is looking to bring in a dedicated plug-in hybrid the subsequent year.
There is no word on its name but a return of the Honda Insight would be more than welcome. The Prius isn’t doing particularly well in a commercial sense, but it has taken a good stride forward with its technical advancements. Could Honda bring in a PHEV that can match the Toyota New Global Architecture underpinning the Prius?
