Japanese carmaker Mazda is giving hints that it's finally ready
to replace the aging 2 supermini/subcompact hatchback. A teaser photo
was released today, for a concept called the the "Hazumi" which going to
be shown for the first time in Geneva next month.
Like the Takeri concept of 2011, which contained 95% of the Mazda6
sedan's design, the Hazumi is a close match for the next supermini
production model. This could be ready within a year and will be based on
Mazda's own Skyactiv technology instead of using Ford architecture like
the current model.
From the teaser, we can tell the Kodo Design language has rubbed off
well onto the smallest car Mazda offers. The Hazumi is sharp and lacks
the idiot grin of older models. The grille appears to be placed high up,
between the headlights, giving the Japanese concept a wider and more
aggressive look.
