Honda has debuted the production version of its 7-seater BR-V crossover at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo.

The BR-V, which stands for Bold Runabout Vehicle, was designed for developing nations such as India and Indonesia. In fact, it was introduced in concept form at the Indonesia International Auto Show last August.

Honda will offer both petrol and diesel engine options, both 1.5-liter units. The i-VTEC petrol motor is rated at 118 horsepower at 6,600 rpm and 107 lb-ft of torque at 4,600 rpm, while the i-DTEC mill puts out 98.6 horsepower and 147.5 lb-ft of torque, according to Indian Autos Blog. Available transmissions include a 6-speed manual standard, or an optional CVT.

Measuring 175.4 inches in length, it is shorter than a Honda CR-V but sports a 2+3+2 seating configuration thanks to a longer 104.7-inch wheelbase. For comparison, a CR-V measures 179.4 inches from nose to tail and has a 103.1-inch wheelbase.

Pricing is expected to start at 800,000 Indian rupees, or US$11,786. Fully optioned versions will go for 1.2 million rupees, or $17,678 USD.

There are currently on plans to bring the BR-V to North America. The BR-V will hit Indian roads this summer. 2016 will mark Honda's 20th year in the Indian market, the fourth largest contributor to Honda's global sales.
