2016 Acura NSX to Start Production in Spring 2016

US-built supercar to commence mass production in Northern Hemisphere Spring of 2016

Honda has today confirmed that mass NSX production will commence in the Northern Hemisphere Spring of 2016.

Speaking at Honda's Frankfurt Motor Show press conference, Philip Ross, Senior Vice President of Honda Motor Europe, the NSX "is in the final stages of development."

Ross confirmed that "trial production is underway at the Raymond, Ohio plant", and that "mass production will commence in the North American spring of 2016, with deliveries to commence shortly after."

It was originally planned to commence NSX production at around this point, in the 2015 northern hemisphere autumn.

The delays were apparently due to ensuring the twin-turbo V6-powered, nine-speed DCT hybrid machine could deliver on its claim to "offer a new supercar experience", though it has previously been noted that it was the decision to turbocharge the V6 that delayed progress, as a bespoke engine needed to be built as a result.

The latest information suggests that NSX will eventually go on-sale in Australia in late-2016, though don't be surprised if that is pushed out into 2017.
