Company will study the usage patterns and the need for micro-sized mobility products
Honda has announced plans to begin testing the Micro Commuter Prototype β in Saitama, Japan this fall.Honda says the tests will enable them to study usage patterns and the need for micro-sized mobility products. The company will also use the tests to determine how well the two-seater works for families, senior citizens, car-sharing programs and commercial purposes.
The Micro Commuter Prototype β will ride on the Variable Design Platform which places key components - such as the battery, motor and control unit - under the floor to maximize interior space. Little else is known about the model but previous prototypes have used a 20 HP (15 kW) electric motor that enabled them to hit a top speed of 80 km/h (50 mph) and travel approximately 60 km (37 miles) on a single charge.
