Consumer Reports Talking Cars: Our latest show covers Tesla, small SUVs, and a sideways track tour

Watch our automotive experts chat about new road test results and answer reader questions in the third episode of "Talking Cars with Consumer Reports."

This podcast was recorded at our Connecticut Auto Test Center, within our always-busy photo building. Senior Auto Engineers Gabe Shenhar and Tom Mutchler are joined by Managing Editor Jon Linkov for a fast-paced chat.

We answer readers' Facebook and blog questions about the upcoming Tesla Model S test and picking a family-friendly vehicle for a three-generational car pool. Road test results for the Toyota Avalon, Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid, Mazda6, Mazda CX-5, and Toyota RAV4 are also discussed. Watch for Tom telling minivan buyers to "man up," why Tesla and Fisker are very different car companies, and whether we'd go diesel or hybrid.

Finally, we thank Mike Schmitt, a Connecticut engineer (and frequent comment writer in CR's blog), for coming up with our podcast's name. The reward: a tour of our test track by Jake Fisher, director of CR's auto test program.

As expected with Jake, most of the track tour seems to be given sideways. Check out the video and you'll see what we mean. As with the other shows, this episode will also be available through the iTunes store.
