Looks substantially different than outgoing car
Our spies have caught on camera the next generation Honda
Civic Coupe and thankfully they were able to capture the interior cabin as
well.
Honda surprised everyone at this year's New York Auto Show
where they unveiled a stunning Civic
concept previewing the tenth generation set to go on sale this fall in
United States. The concept took the shape of a coupe and today we get to see
how the design will morph to the production car. Although the prototype
was wearing an extensive amount of camouflage, it's easy to notice the car will
look significantly different and will adopt a sleeker shape.
Courtesy of some leaked
patent designs, we already have a clue regarding the car's exterior appearance
and in this latest batch of spy shots we also get to see the interior cabin
with a dashboard that boasts a more conventional layout. This particular
prototype had a two-tone upholstery and was most likely a higher specification
model judging by that generously-sized touchscreen display. Other noticeable
features include an electric parking brake, sliding armrest, three-spoke
steering multi-function steering wheel along with metallic accents and some
large buttons below the infotainment system.
The
tenth generation Civic will officially premiere on
September 16, but it’s not known at this point whether Honda will show
the coupe as well or they will just unveil the sedan. We do know for
sure the hybrid and CNG versions have been
axed as Honda believes the newly developed 1.5-liter turbocharged
gasoline engine
will be efficient enough and will work with a short-shift six-speed
manual
gearbox and an optional CVT.
