I'll start off;-I think the next Odyssey will share a similar front end to the Honda City/Honda FCX (pictured above).
-I'd like to see a compass in the rearview mirror starting in the top of the line cloth model and up.
-The diesel V6 engine is a great idea, providing cost doesn't put it over a $5,000 premium.
-When the vans in park, the front Navigation screen can play DVD movies.
I'll keep adding as I think of them.
This is the first time that I've ever done anything like this so, we'll see how it goes as to whether or not I do something like this again in the future.

Change the pwr sliding doors to just normal doors. like in jpn.
Have there be some kind of campervan conversion kit option since Vanagons aren't being made anymore. A mobile bedroom is more important than a mobile kitchen, imho.
And have a "mobile office" setup in the front with plugs, flat space, etc. like the Toyota Tundra has.
Have the option of having the back area configured with seats facing each other, a table, etc.
Do something about the 52,000 dollar price tag. Good lord!

How about a smarter transmission? One that doesn't hang onto 5th gear until the engine has been pulled down to single-digit RPMs? Or, failing that, how about just introducing the engine to the transmission. The engine thinks the tranny is smarter than it is, and the tranny thinks the engine has more torque than it does. Or, failing that, how about letting the driver select D4?

I actually would like to see Honda to slot in the JDM Odyssey as a smaller 7 seater. Something smaller that can haul 7 when you have to but still fun to drive. Don't bring in the Stream if we can choose. It looks boring.
However, I would like to see on the next generation:
-HID as an option across models,
-Headlight washers (even throw in as a snow climate option just like in Japan),
-Parking camera to be an individual option instead,
-LED brake light,
-Reduced overall noice (from windshield, road and lose interior body panels),
-AWD,
-Reduced weight on the 2nd row seats so it's easier to get them out,
-Full three seats on 2nd row (the original two can be narrower and with the armrests to make room),
-Retain the same way to fold down the 3rd row seat. Sienna has proven to be too hard for petite size wife ^_^
-AWD
-2.5mm aux input jack or USB jack,
-Keeping the low entry height,
-Better design to access the "lazy susan" under tray when floor mats are in use,
-Did I say AWD already? Sienna has it for a long long time....

I think that the new generation Honda Odyseey should have Headlight washers, Xenon headlights, blind spot detector, power folding third row seats,a 305hp turbo V6 engine, brakes with drilled rotors, an optional gasoline-electric hybrid engine, heating and cooling seats for all three rows, Optional Blu-ray player with DVD upconverting for the back seats,a USB interface for most or all MP3 players, LED Tail lights, LED Third Brake Light,an SH-AWD option, Solar Panoramic Sunroof for the rear seats, and Outside Rearview Mirrors with LED Turn Signals. The reason why I think that this new van needs a blind spot detector is because when changing lanes,I cannot tell if a vehicle is next to me, and this is a safety feature that should be standard on all trims. Another feature that should be standard on all trims is the LED Turn Signals on the outside rearview mirrors, when you want to signal to turn or to change lanes. Luxury cars such as Volvo has this feature. Headlight washers are needed, because no other minivan in the market has these, and to make this van luxurious, I think that the Headlight washers are needed to clean the headlights for better visibility in the night. Solar panorammic Sunroof for the rear passengers adds to the luxury and efficiency of the vehicle, because the solar-powered sunroof can power the air conditioner in the vehicle without too much gas consumption. This feature is also found on Bentleys, and for the new Honda Odyssey, the solar panoramic roof can also maintain a cooler temperature on hot days with a solar fan, so the interior is not humid.LED Tail Lights and Xenon Headlight are more efficient in the nighttime and the daytime as well, and the consume less power. LED Lights in the interior are brighter and consume less power, so they can be placed in the glove box, sliding door entrances, driver and passenger doors, map lights, driver and passenger vanity mirrors, overhead console lights, and under the steering wheel and the passenger dash. The reason why this van needs a standard 305 hp turbo engine is because it can save a bit more gas and produce more power to accelerate and tow better, like the 2009 Acura TL. A hybrid option should be available for this vehicle for those who care about saving more gas, but has the same hp as the standard turbo V6 engine. The electric engine should reach a speed up to 50 miles an hour, to compete against the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan Hybrids. The brakes should have drilled rotors for better stopping distances, because my 2007 Odyssey braking distance from 60-0mph is approximately 130 feet, and the new one needs better stopping distance. The Blu-ray player should be standard for the entertainment package, because a lot of people now a days have Blu-ray discs to watch their movies in HD. This van should also have HD radio standard on all trims, because the sound quality is more digital, and you can unlock all the radio stations without reception interference. The reason why it should also have a USB interface is because nearly all MP3 players, including iPods, have USB cables to plug and charge the MP3 player, and it is more universal than just having an iPod plug for the MP3. Heating and cooling leathers seats for all passengers should be standard on the trims featuring leater seats, because it is unfair that the first row seats get the luxury and the rear seats do not, and your seats will not feel cold when in cold temperatures, or hot in hot temperatures. It should also have the Acura's SH-AWD system, because of the fact that it needs more power to carry heavy loads if necessary, it is also better when there is snow. The backup camera should be standard on all trims, instead just having it on the EX-L or Touring trims, because when you take a reverse in this van, and you acidentally hit someone or something, it is too late to prevent that incident once it happens. All these features should be added to the standard features that Honda is making for this minivan.
The New Odyssey should duplicate the current JDM Odyssey, a GREAT minivan!
I suggest a hard drive based navigation system that can be auto-updated via wi-fi to stay current. The nav display should be high resolution, using an OLED display (which should also be used for the blu-ray rear entertainment system). Second, the well behind the 3rd row seat should be a full 4 feet wide from front to back instead of the current tapered front corners in order to allow a 4'w x 3'h x 2'd box to fit behind the 3rd row seat. Also, there should be a durable, integrated, flush fitting cover for the 3rd row seat well that can be used when there is a need to keep the 3rd row seats while carrying heavy boxes or items that are too heavy to lift out of the well, but can slide out.
Honda should also match the Ford Sync system, which has usb to fully support iPods or any mp3 player as well as blue tooth and voice recognition for pretty much everything.
Lastly, fuel economy and the environment is a huge issue. Since I do mostly highway driving, the clean diesel and/or plug-in hybrid diesel V-6 option is most attractive to me. Another option would be a hybrid with twin-turbo, direct-injected 4-cylinder engine. Reduce weight with more high strength steel, and lighter components. Use engine start/stop system to not waste fuel at traffic lights. Also reduce drag on engine with electric steering and systems to allow the A/C and alternator to run at a constant and optimal speed.
how about a real center console with storage?
Honda needs to allow some development for better road noise isolation. Every Honda product gets hammered in product reviews on road noise year after year. The Toyota Sienna is the standard for quiet minivans.
I have a 2005 Odyssey Touring with the lower aerodynamic package and it looks great. Why not a sport version like an Odyssey SI Touring with some aero effects, bigger tires, more horsepower maybe with an intercooled turbo. Just because it's a minivan is no reason why it can't be cool as well.
HID headlight option, LED tail/brake chmsl lamps, Blu-ray DVD player, better voice recognition software for the navi/HVAC systems, a true hybrid or clean high pressure rail direct injection diesel that can pay back savings in two to three years, better brakes - Hondas (most models) still get rapped by most magazine editors for vague braking performance. Better illumination for interiors including LED rail and ceiling lighting, foot well lighting and other high end illumination.
Would be great to see swivel seats like the Chrysler minivan. We almost got it but for the Chyrsler name.
The GPS is totally outdated. It needs to have user selectable trip information on the screen. The map updates are far and few between.
It would also be nice to incorporate technical information on the screen relating to performance and fuel usage.
Needs hybrid engine.

I'd love to see six windows THAT OPEN. I have a 2003 Odyssey. I have two front windows that open, and two third row windows that vent open. I would have purchased the 2005 Odyssey when they made the 2nd row seat windows open, but they stupidly shut the third row windows in this version. Hence, I have not bought a new van. I will not buy an Odyssey until all six windows open (third row vent is fine). Sienna can do it, our station wagons in the 70's could do it, you'd think Honda could do it by now.
1. The qtr glass for 3rd row seats should open like the 1999 - 2004 models.
2. LED interior lights, brake and turn indicators on side mirrors.

4. Roof rack should fold flat tucked into the roof slot to increase aerodynamics and can be popped up when required.
5. Blind spot warning is a great idea and is in Mazda.

8. Tail gate glass should lift up (like CRV) or roll down (like in Forerunner).
9. Easily accessible cabin filter
10. Bigger TV screen
11. Increase the size of the middle row jump seat by decreasing the size of the other two (not by too much though)

Get rid of the sliding doors and add 2 more for the 3rd row so people sitting in the back don't have to wait for the 2nd row occupants to get out first. Basically it would be a six door vehicle with a hatch. Seems obvious to me! Also offer it with a 6 spd manual transmission to maximize performance. I know a lot of people may think that it would never sell, but why not offer it like in the Accord and Civic??

Move spare tire to where Lazy Susan is. Lazy Susan has been a pain to access with floor mats on and I've never used it so far. Moving spare tire to the where Lazy Susan is (as in 99 - 04 models) will increase trunk space and easier access in case of a flat tire - don't have to clear the trunk to access the spare.
The 2012 Honda Odyssey needs All Wheel Drive option like the one in the Pilot. The Second row seats should be able to fold into the floor, like Chrysler's Stow N Go seating..
Make the storage compartment between the front seats and second row a locking compartment so when you valet park, you can lock things in there.
2nd row seats should be able to put two full size seats on either side of the van...currently, the two full size seats only go together on the left side - makes a difference if you have to haul six people with some long cargo (surfboard)
All wheel drive - but keeping the good mileage. The Sienna has it but the mileage suffers terribly.
DVD - let it play in the back without headphones and play the radio in the front - when I am on a road trip, I have to make the kids pause the movie to check traffic on the radio. Minor inconvenience.
Real time traffic on the navigation system would be awesome.
Everyone else has made some good comments and I sure hope Honda is listening to all of this. They have the best minivan hands down.
It would be nice if the rear view camera could be switched on driving forward... when the van is stuffed with cargo such that there is no view.

air shocks or auto load leveling rear - I can't tell you how often I see Ody's, including my 2001 and my 2006, with what appears to be rear tires about to scrape on the wheel wells and this is without towing a trailer.

I'm the sort of hombre who enjoys to seek revolutionary stuff. Right now I'm building my private pv panels. I'm making it all by myself without the aid of my staff. As a second time owner of an Odyssey, there are several critical deficiencies hat must be addressed before I would buy another.
First, the navigation system is a travesty. I wanted the power tailgate (great) and the navigation so I ended up with a back seat DVD viewer that has yet to be used. Unfortunately, the navigation system is bone stupid and upgrades (which do not actually add any new info) are $300 dollars!!!!! WTF is with that!!!! Even service managers in foreign cities on our travels say that EVERYONE complains about the cost! FIX IT HONDA!!! Store the info on a Hard disk. If I travel down a brand spanking new highway, I should be able to say 'include this route in your calculations and use it next time' Instead I get a very long winded nag from the G.D. Nagging Nelly voice that recommends that I review my route, re-read the map, check my destination, watch all the traffic signs, blah blah blah... SHUT UP! Pay Google Maps for the up-to-date data and pass it down free of charge to all your customers.
Fix the touch screen. The touch registration is so far off the mark that you have to hit the letter above an one left to actually get a letter to register. This makes typing even simple things a supreme test of patience and frustration. Check out an iphone for adaptive, anticipatory typing.
The side power doors are way too slow. I have little time left in my life and I don't want to spend a large portion of it waiting for that leisurely door to open or close.
The grocery bag hooks used to be better. They need to be proud of the seat back so they are more like hooks than buried indents with a secret latch. Also they need to be higher so a regular grocery bag hangs clear of the floor. There also needs to be some sort of hook on thee back of the passenger and driver seats to hang a regular shopping bag. Maybe it could be used for a purse too. Anything to make it convenient to pop into the corner store etc.
The iPod connector is shameful. What a waste of money. Not only does it not show what song is playing, it won't play existing playlist (your 'name them Honda 1xxx is ridiculous!) At least leave the standard screen display on so it can be read instead of displaying a useless Honda symbol and nothing else.
Create an optional luggage cover that attaches to the back of the second row of seats and pulls out to cover everything in the extended luggage area. I only have the third row of seats up to create a grocery bin at the back. For travel (when I have golf bags, luggage and purchases in the rear), I want to be able to shield the whole area from prying eyes. What does Honda offer? An expensive curtain for the the short space behind the third row of seats to the door. Completely useless. You have not really sold one of those have you.
The third row windows really need to open out. My previous Odyssey had that and I liked it a lot. Especially when we used the van as a camper. Oh ya. I had to create my own screen windows for those pop out vents with plastic screening. I thing a great option for Honda to offer is the opening vent windows... and a snap in screen insert to keep out bugs.
A clean turbo diesel option would bee great. We do not commute with this vehicle and the highway performance would be awesome with a torquey diesel.
Here's hoping someone from Honda is listening. Else it's 'Hello Nissan!'
I think that the 3 most importand features that we need on the odyssey without killing us in pricing. is AWD, more horsepower & noise reduction.
Integrated carseat/boosters! For a family vehicle it makes sense.. Kids have playdates and our state requires boostering till age 8. I don't generally have spare boosters sitting around when I need to transport my kindergartener and his friends.
Back of seat storage pockets too for the little things like books and toys kids bring into the van but never seem to leave the van.
AWD....please! NOT insisting on SH-AWD. The AWD unit from the Accord Crosstour would be fine.
Provide power retractable side mirrors so it is easier to fit in narrower garages. Do this on the EX-L and above trims - not just the highest trim!!!
